Murrieta Fire & Rescue Donated Equipment Helps Save A Life

A woman in Playa Hermosa was saved thanks to donated fire equipment.

MURRIETA, CA — Firefighters in Playa Hermosa rescued a woman trapped inside a storm drain with the help of donated surplus firefighting equipment from Murrieta Fire & Rescue, the agency shared in a recent news release.

The Murrieta Fire & Rescue frequently gives "new life to tools that are still in good condition but no longer meet our department’s current standards," a spokesperson for the agency said. "Each of those donations provides essential firefighting equipment to firefighters who may not have the same resources. The partnership also strengthens relationships that are critical when agencies work together during large emergencies."

Recently, crews in the town of Playa Hermosa put those tools to the task to free the trapped woman. Details of that rescue are still unfolding, but it was the use of Murrieta equipment that allowed them to reach her," the department shared.

"Playa Hermosa firefighters used donated equipment during an emergency response where a woman became trapped in a storm drain," they said. "Crews were able to safely assist in her rescue."

The Mexican Red Cross evaluated the woman who was reported to be in stable condition, they said.
