Temecula-Based Southwest Traders Opening Massive Menifee Headquarters
"Southwest Traders expects to begin operations from its Menifee headquarters facility in Fall 2026," according to the city of Menifee.
MENIFEE, CA — A Temecula-based logistics and distribution company is opening a massive facility in Menifee, it was confirmed Tuesday.
Southwest Traders, which currently operates at 27565 Diaz Road, has completed the purchase of a facility several times larger in the Gateway at Menifee industrial business park.
The $40.5-million purchase wrapped up last month for the 229,934-square-foot facility located at 33520 Zeiders Road.
Family owned since 1977, Southwest Traders offers food products and supply chain solutions to independent and national chains. The company was founded in San Diego County, but in 1986 land was purchased in Temecula to expand the business.
"Southwest Traders expects to begin operations from its Menifee headquarters facility in Fall 2026 following
completion of tenant improvements and construction activities now underway," according to the city of Menifee.
Patch has reached out to Southwest Traders for comment, including whether the company plans to maintain operations in Temecula.
According to the city of Menifee, Southwest Traders' major expansion was needed to meet increasing demand and to strengthen its distribution capabilities throughout Southern California.
The company is transforming the Menifee facility into a state-of-the-art refrigerated and subzero freezer distribution center, according to the city.
Southwest Traders will immediately add approximately 250 local jobs in Menifee and is expected to create an
additional 250 jobs over the next five years, according to the city.
According to Southwest Traders, its truck drivers earn an average annual salary of approximately $100,000.
"We draw nearly fifty percent of our workforce from this region, so Menifee was a logical choice for our expansion
efforts to move closer to where our teammates live," said Terry Walsh, president of Southwest Traders.
The city of Menifee said it expedited approvals for significant tenant improvements in the new building and streamlined the permitting and construction process.
