Authorities Identify Motorcyclist Who Died In Napa County Crash

NAPA COUNTY, CA — The Napa County Sheriff's Office has identified a motorcycle rider who died in a crash Saturday afternoon south of Lake Berryessa as Russell Layton, 64, of Winters.

Layton was riding on state Highway 128 near the intersection of Wragg Canyon Road about 2 miles south of the Markley Cove resort in unincorporated Napa County around 2:05 p.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Marc Renspurger said.

Layton lost control of the motorcycle and struck a tree. He was pronounced dead at 3:09 p.m., Napa County sheriff's spokesman Henry Wofford said.
