Napa D.A. Investigator Who Died After Cancer Battle Remembered

NAPA VALLEY, CA — Known as a devoted father, passionate car enthusiast, loyal Detroit Lions fan, and dedicated public servant, Napa County District Attorney Investigator Nicholas Conrad has died after battling glioblastoma.

In a statement announcing his death, the District Attorney's Office described Conrad as a respected investigator whose automotive expertise, technical knowledge, and commitment to public service benefited numerous criminal investigations.

"Nick was a deeply respected and well-loved member of our District Attorney family," the office said.

Colleagues affectionately referred to him as the office's "Car Guy," noting that his extensive automotive knowledge helped investigators and prosecutors analyze evidence in a wide variety of cases.

Conrad, 46, served with the Novato Police Department before joining the Napa County District Attorney's Office a decade ago.

Conrad helped expand the agency's investigative capabilities by introducing new technologies, including drones, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Officials said his efforts to modernize investigative tools left a lasting impact on the office and strengthened its ability to conduct complex investigations.

The District Attorney's Office said Conrad's greatest priority was his family. He is survived by his wife, Tara, and their children.

Colleagues also remembered him for his kindness, generosity, sense of humor, enthusiasm for the Detroit Lions, and the friendships he built throughout his career.

"As we mourn this tremendous loss, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Nick's family, friends, and all who had the privilege of serving alongside him," the District Attorney's Office said.
