The four-story structure could add up to 460 spaces but leave a funding gap of about $20 million, while some council members urge a slower, surface-lot-first approach as robotaxis and other trends reshape parking demand.
   

2. Update: Ruth Fire burns 1.5 acres in Napa County (fresnobee.com) — A new wildfire dubbed the Ruth Fire ignited this afternoon in Napa County and has burned about 1.5 acres of private land in less than an hour. Officials have not yet reported any containment or identified a cause, and updates are still coming from fire authorities.
   

3. World-renowned winemaker buys burned-out 500-acre Napa Valley vineyard to rebuild historic estate amid brutal industry crash (nypost.com) — A fire-ravaged 500-acre vineyard on Spring Mountain in Napa Valley has been bought by winemaker Maya Dalla Valle and a vineyard management firm, who plan to keep rebuilding the historic Cain estate. Their investment bets on Napa's long-term future even as surveys show many local vineyards struggling with falling wine demand, higher costs, and tighter profits.
   

4. After five years, Pickles the Napa rescue cat finds her forever home (mercedsunstar.com) — After years greeting shoppers from a window hammock at Jameson Humane in south Napa, Pickles the famously "spicy" rescue cat has finally found a forever home with longtime caregiver Luis Ibarra. The no-kill Napa rescue is celebrating the bond that helped a difficult-to-place cat get adopted, while preparing to showcase more adoptable felines in her old front-window spot.
   

5. North Bay leaders demand release of funds for sinking Highway 37 (napavalleyregister.com) — Highway 37, a key route for Napa County commuters, may soon get $100 million in long-delayed safety and congestion upgrades, including added carpool lanes and climate-resilient improvements. North Bay leaders, including Napa County Supervisor Belia Ramos, are pressing the state transportation commission this week to release the funds, arguing the chronically flooded, traffic-choked corridor is eroding residents' quality of life.
