Power Outage Hits 3,500 Across Dozens Of California Counties

Napa County sees the heaviest impact as a PG&E outage affects customers across Northern and Central California.

NAPA VALLEY, CA — A power outage has spread across 33 California counties and affected thousands of Pacific Gas & Electric Company customers, with Napa County bearing the largest share of reported outages.

As many as 3,500 Pacific Gas & Electric Company customers lost power today across 33 California counties during an ongoing outage that hit Napa County hardest, the utility reported.

The outage affected 1,354 customers in Napa County, the largest reported impact among the counties listed by PG&E.

Other affected areas included Sonoma County, where 441 customers lost power, San Francisco County, where 305 customers are without power, and in Contra Costa County, 42.

Nearly 150 customers are without power in San Mateo and Marin counties, combined.

PG&E has not immediately released a cause for the outages. Utility outages can stem from equipment problems, weather, vegetation, planned work, vehicle crashes, or wildfire-safety systems, depending on the location and conditions.

The outage remains active as customers across Northern and Central California waited for restoration updates.
