Nevada County Launching Summer River Shuttle Pilot to Improve Safety and Reduce Traffic at South Yuba River (yubanet.com) ā Nevada City residents will soon have a $2 weekend shuttle from the Nevada County Government Center to the crowded Highway 49 bridge crossing on the South Yuba River, running July 3 through Sept. 6. The county hopes this pilot will cut illegal parking, improve safety, and reduce traffic and emissions, and is asking riders for feedback that could shape a longāterm service.

Local Filmmaker to Premiere Documentary Highlighting Sierra Buttes Stories (themountainmessenger.org) ā Nevada City filmmaker Patty Eacobacci is debuting her long-awaited Sierra Buttes documentary, rooted in her familyās history and childhood in town, at a July 12 premiere in Sierra City. The 40āminute film explores her fatherās role in building the lookout ladder, local history, and how wild places like the Sierra Buttes shape identity and belonging.

The Center for the Arts Names Michelle Amador Executive Director (yubanet.com) ā Nevada Cityāarea arts lovers will see a familiar face leading The Center for the Arts, as Grass Valley resident and cultural advocate Michelle Amador becomes executive director on June 16. Her work with the Grass ValleyāNevada City Cultural District and Nevada County arts organizations positions her to shape regional programming, funding, and advocacy that directly affect local venues and artists.

Dangerous dogs mean you could have to pick up your own mail: Grass Valley Post Office gets serious about dog bites (theunion.com) ā Nevada County dog owners are being warned that unsafe pets could mean picking up mail at the Grass Valley Post Office instead of home delivery. As part of a national dog bite awareness campaign, local postal workers and Grass Valley Police shared biteāprevention tactics and stressed securing dogs before carriers arrive so service isnāt suspended in neighborhoods around Nevada City.
