• SLO County DA Dan Dow doesn't get his budget request for more positions (newtimesslo.com) — San Luis Obispo County supervisors have declined District Attorney Dan Dow’s late request for five new positions, citing tight finances and competing public safety needs. One major priority they highlighted is fully staffing the planned Nipomo Sheriff’s Office substation, scheduled to open in 2028, which may draw on the same Proposition 172 and opioid settlement funds Dow sought for his office. 
• SLO County school district's administrators get raises despite teacher objections (sanluisobispo.com) — Lucia Mar Unified’s board has approved raises for the superintendent, assistant superintendents, and other managers, even as some teachers — including a Nipomo High School instructor — objected that the increases feel unfair. Trustees insist management raises mirror those for union staff and note nurses and counselors also benefit, while critics argue highly paid administrators don’t need percentage boosts comparable to classroom educators struggling with local living costs.
