2nd Teen Arrested In Teen Mob Attack On Man In Orange County: Police
The attack involved a mob of teenagers, many of them apparently on e-bikes, gathered at the beach.
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — A second teen was arrested Monday by the Huntington Beach Police Department in connection with an attack on a man riding a scooter on a city path this past week.
The incident happened at around 8 p.m. May 9 in the area of 103 Pacific Coast Highway, Huntington Beach Police Department Spokesperson Jessica Cuchilla said.
According to a report published by KTLA, the man and his wife were riding home on the boardwalk when they crossed paths with a gathering of a large group of teens, many of them with e-bikes, hanging out on the beach.

Sam El-Said, the victim of the incident, told KTLA that when he slowed down to navigate through the crowd he was struck in the face by a glass bottle that someone had thrown.
The shattered glass left him with minor injuries, police said.

El-Said told KTLA that when he got off his scooter to see what had happened, someone knocked him to the ground from behind.
He told the broadcast publication that four to six high school-aged kids then kicked and stomped him while he was down.
One teen was arrested over the weekend in connection with the attack, and the HBPD issued a statement in response to the growing concern regarding the incident.
"The Huntington Beach Police Department is aware of multiple videos circulating on social media, as well as news outlets reporting teens assaulting a man on the bike path on May 9," the HBPD said in a statement. "Since that time, our detectives have interviewed many other witnesses, reviewed multiple cell phone videos, identified several outstanding suspects, and arrested a second juvenile associated with the assault."
The investigation is ongoing, and police said they expect to find most — if not all — of the suspects involved in the assault.
Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact HBPD Sgt. Thomas at MThomas@hbpd.org.
