Gunman Sought After Woman Found Dead Behind SUV In Orange County

The shooting was reported via multiple 911 calls from people who heard gunfire.

TUSTIN, CA — An investigation was under way Friday into the fatal shooting of a 42-year-old woman in Tustin.

The shooting was reported via multiple 911 calls from people who heard gunfire about 6:10 p.m. Thursday in the area of 17th and Yorba streets, according to the Tustin Police Department.

The mortally wounded woman was found down behind a white SUV along the east curb north of 17th Street and was pronounced dead at the scene by Orange County Fire Authority paramedics, police said.

"Officers contacted witnesses at the scene, who reported seeing a male suspect wearing all black clothing flee the scene in a dark colored older model sedan," said Tustin police spokesman Lt. Matt Nunley.

No arrest has been reported, but police do not believe there is a threat to the general public, Nunley said.
