Driver And Dog Survive Rollover Crash On I-10 In Chiriaco Summit
The two were trapped in the wreckage and were extricated by firefighters.
CHIRIACO SUMMIT, CA — A driver and a dog were rescued Monday morning after a solo-vehicle rollover crash along Interstate 10 near Chiriaco Summit, emergency officials reported.
Firefighters responded around 6:30 a.m. to the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 at Cottonwood Springs Road, where they found a vehicle overturned with a driver and a dog trapped inside, according to the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
Crews quickly extricated both occupants. The driver suffered moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local trauma center.

The dog was freed unharmed.

Traffic was flowing through the area as of 9:30 a.m. Monday. Chiriaco Summit is located approximately 30 miles east of Indio.
