Hit-And-Run Driver Slams Into Indio's Burger Box, Police Seek Leads

INDIO, CA — Police Monday were searching for the driver of a vehicle that crashed into a restaurant in Indio, heavily damaging the building before fleeing the scene.

The crash was reported Sunday at Burger Box, 81201 Indio Blvd.

"This morning we got a call from Indio PD that a vehicle crashed into our restaurant, causing significant damage to the building," Burger Box said on a social media post. "Thankfully, our biggest concern is everyone's safety, and we are grateful that no one was seriously injured as occurred overnight."

Footage posted to the establishment's social media pages showed broken glass, scattered debris, and heavy structural damage to the building.

Burger Box will temporarily close while staff assess the damage and focus on repairs.

Descriptions of the driver and the vehicle involved were not immediately available.
