Flock Camera Technician Assaulted, Threatened In Palm Desert: RSO (patch.com) — Palm Desert residents are being urged to contact investigators after a local man was arrested on suspicion of threatening a Flock Safety camera technician, slashing his tires, and vandalizing city-owned license plate reader equipment. Deputies say a search of his Palm Desert home uncovered evidence tying him to other vandalism and sexually intrusive videos of teenage girls, and they are now working to identify additional victims. 
2. Know Before You Go: Monterey Avenue Work Kicks Off as Palm Springs Juggles Three Major Projects (nbcpalmsprings.com) — Drivers in Palm Desert should brace for significant delays as Monterey Avenue undergoes rehabilitation from the I-10 overpass to Gerald Ford Drive through October, with heavy work near Dinah Shore. Officials urge using Cook Street or Bob Hope as detours and note that weekends will remain the easiest time to reach nearby shopping centers.

Red Lobster shutting down Palm Desert location, employees learn Monday (kesq.com) — Palm Desert's Red Lobster at Highway 111 and Fred Waring will close permanently around September 6 or 7, employees learned Monday. Staff say the news came suddenly, and local diners will now have to travel to San Bernardino or Temecula for the nearest location as the chain trims stores during its post‑bankruptcy restructuring.

First day of classes at CSUSB Palm Desert Campus (desertsun.com) — Students and staff were back on the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus Monday, filling walkways and classrooms as the fall term got underway in Palm Desert.
