This week at City Hall: Historic district bid, protected property project and police chief farewell ⋆ The Palm Springs Post (thepalmspringspost.com) — Palm Springs residents can weigh in this week as the Historic Site Preservation Board considers historic district status for the Seven Lakes Golf and Country Club and a construction request at a protected property. City Hall will also host a retirement ceremony honoring outgoing Police Chief Andy Mills after five years leading the Palm Springs Police Department and nearly five decades in law enforcement.
   

2. Palm Springs officials ask to revisit Flock camera policy amid public pushback ⋆ The Palm Springs Post (thepalmspringspost.com) — Palm Springs officials are reexamining how police use Flock license plate cameras after residents raised privacy and oversight concerns at City Hall. Councilmembers have requested a detailed public briefing and the police department has formed a small Technology and Surveillance Community Advisory Board to review license plate readers and, eventually, other tools like drones and body cameras.
   

3. Animal advocates ask California attorney general to intervene in Miranda's Rescue case (nbcpalmsprings.com) — Palm Springs Animal Shelter has cut ties with a Humboldt County rescue after investigators reportedly found numerous dog remains at the Northern California facility, including six animals transferred from Palm Springs. Animal advocates are now asking the state attorney general to dissolve Miranda's Rescue and appoint a receiver to safeguard any remaining animals and assets.
   

4. Small plane makes emergency landing in Mecca; pilot uninjured (desertsun.com) — A small twin‑engine plane that took off from Palm Springs made an emergency landing near Mecca on Saturday, leaving the pilot uninjured but the aircraft moderately damaged. Riverside County deputies, Cal Fire crews and federal investigators are reviewing what went wrong after flight-tracking data showed the Beech E55 Baron's path ending shortly after departure.
