After the previous finalist withdrew, the City Council hired The Byers Group to find a leader for the city's 140,000 residents in the San Gabriel Valley.
   

2. Pasadena (CA) Dog Saved From Burning Home Greets Firefighter Rescue Teams (firefighternation.com) — A Pasadena family's dog, Milo, is recovering well after firefighters from Pasadena, Arcadia, and Sierra Madre pulled him unconscious from a burning home on Michillinda Avenue last week. Crews used an oxygen mask to revive him within minutes, and the grateful owners reunited with the firefighters Monday, sharing thanks and custom T‑shirts while they remain displaced during the fire investigation.
   

3. California museum sued over Renaissance painting looted by Nazis (courthousenews.com) — Pasadena's Norton Simon Museum is being sued under a new California law by heirs of a Jewish art dealer seeking the return of two Renaissance paintings allegedly looted by the Nazis. The case, along with a related federal suit over Auschwitz watercolors, tests recent state and federal rules designed to reopen Holocaust-era art claims and could affect how long-disputed works are handled in California museums.

A Monterey Park 'DeFlock' teach-in draws wary Pasadena, South Pasadena elected officials (pasadenastarnews.com) — Pasadena's use of Flock license-plate cameras is under renewed scrutiny as Vice Mayor Jessica Rivas and other officials question their accuracy, placement across northwest Pasadena, and potential misuse for surveillance and immigration enforcement. At a Monterey Park teach-in, speakers cited audit failures, privacy risks, and racial profiling concerns, while Rivas says some Pasadena councilmembers are now considering ending or changing the city's Flock contract.
