Watch: Parolee Leads Police On 100-MPH Highway Pursuit Across North Bay

BAY AREA, CA — A parolee raced past traffic on highway shoulders and through the center median of a major Bay Area roadway at more than 100 mph today, even after officers backed away and stopped actively chasing him.

The pursuit began Saturday when the Petaluma Police saw a driver wanted on a parole violation.

Officers lost sight of the vehicle near Lakeville Highway.

Sonoma County Sheriff’s deputies later spotted the vehicle traveling southbound on Arnold Drive.

The Sheriff's Henry One helicopter spotted the vehicle heading east on Highway 37.

The helicopter crew directed California Highway Patrol officers toward the suspect. Vallejo police also pursued the vehicle.

Authorities recorded speeds of 100 mph as the driver swerved around other vehicles and to the shoulder, and drove through the highway’s center median.

The suspect drove into the Pinole and Hercules area before turning back toward Vallejo. Vallejo police and CHP officers ultimately took him into custody on Interstate 80.
