PLEASANTON, CA — Cook’s Seafood could return following an abrupt closure, Pleasanton Weekly reported.

On Oct. 29, signs were found on the windows of Cook’s locations in Pleasanton and Menlo Park stating that the restaurant was closed effective Oct. 28. However, a new flyer posted on the Pleasanton location suggests that the restaurant could reopen.

“To our valued customers, Cook’s Seafood is currently restructuring its operations,” the notice said, according to The Weekly. “During this transition, the restaurant will be closed. Thank you for your loyalty and support over the years. We appreciate your patience as we determine the best path forward.”

Patch reached out to Cook’s for further information about both the closure and potential reopening.

Plans for the Pleasanton location date back to 2017, when the business first applied for city permits. A sign announcing that Cook’s was “coming soon” remained in the window for many years as the restaurant dealt with challenges related to staffing, the pandemic, and health issues, according to a Pleasanton Weekly report. The yearslong delay became a running joke among some Pleasanton residents. However, work began in 2024, and the restaurant finally opened at the Koll Center Plaza May 12, 2025.

Cook’s began in 1928 as a fish market that also served fish and chips, and later expanded into a full-service seafood restaurant.
