Masked Robbers Carry Out Smash-And-Grab At Stoneridge Mall: Reports

PLEASANTON, CA — Pleasanton police are investigating a smash-and-grab robbery that took place inside the Stoneridge Shopping Center Monday morning, according to reports from ABC7 and Pleasanton Weekly.

The robbery began at around 11:30 a.m. Monday, when four masked suspects broke into Zales Jewelers and used hammers and pick axes to break display cases, according to a Pleasanton Weekly report.

PPD Lt. Brandon Stocking told the Weekly that police responded at around 11:37 a.m. but the suspects fled before police arrived. Stocking also said that one of the suspects discharged what appears to be pepper spray in the direction of store employees and customers during the robbery, though no injuries were reported.

ABC7, citing police radio traffic, also reported that suspects used hammers and pepper spray during the robbery.

Cell phone video posted to Facebook shows the suspects inside the store briefly before running out. It also shows broken glass on the floor and customers reacting in the aftermath of the robbery. A nearby employee told ABC7 that she hid in a restroom hallway during the attack.

Police did not comment on how much was stolen, though ABC7 reported that two jewelry cases appear to have been emptied.

In September 2025 and March 2023, masked suspects carried out takeover-style smash-and-grab robberies at Heller Jewelers in City Center. At least 15 people have been arrested in connection with both events.
