33 Citations Issued, 1 Person Arrested During Redlands DUI Checkpoint

REDLANDS, CA — One driver was arrested for driving under the influence and 33 others were cited during a Redlands Police Department traffic checkpoint over the weekend, law enforcement officials announced Monday.

Police conducted the DUI and driver's license checkpoint from 6 p.m. to midnight Sept. 25 at the intersection of Brookside Avenue and Eureka Street.

Officers screened 632 vehicles passing through the checkpoint.

In addition to the single DUI arrest, officers cited 18 drivers for licensing violations, including one individual caught driving with a suspended license. Another 15 motorists received citations for various other California Vehicle Code violations.

Police select checkpoint locations based on data tracking impaired-driving collisions and incidents, aiming to remove dangerous drivers from the road and enhance public safety.

Funding for the operation was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
