📰 News we're reading

• 100 years ago in Redlands: First community sing of the winter season brings crowd to the Contemporary Club (redlandsdailyfacts.com) — Redlands residents get a rich look back at how community sings and concerts at the Contemporary Club and early Redlands Bowl helped shape the city's musical identity a century ago. The piece revisits 1926 performances by Redlands High School musicians, the Community Music Association, and longtime sing leader Hugo Kirchhofer, all rooted in familiar local institutions and venues.

• Suspect arrested for attempted murder hours after shooting at victim in front yard: police (ktla.com) — Redlands police say a man was shot in the front yard of a home on the 900 block of Tribune Street Sunday evening, then hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers quickly circulated a vehicle description, and a San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy in Highland stopped the car, leading to the arrest of 34-year-old Maxwell David Broderick on attempted murder charges.
