• Redondo Beach waterfront tapped as new site for Marine Mammal Care Center (cbsnews.com) — Redondo Beach is poised to turn the old Joe's Crab Shack site in King Harbor into a new Marine Mammal Care Center, bringing a hospital, research hub, and public education campus right to the waterfront. Backed by $30 million already committed toward a $65 million goal, the three-story facility would more than double current rescue capacity and offer interactive exhibits for local visitors.
   

• Beach Warnings Issued as Heat Wave Approaches (mynewsla.com) — Several Redondo Beach swimming spots, including the pier, Sapphire Street, and Avenue I storm drain areas, are under ocean water warnings due to elevated bacteria levels. As a heat wave drives more people to the coast, county health officials urge residents to stay out of the water at 11 affected locations while conditions are monitored and updated via hotline and online maps.
   

• South Bay SWAT Teams Help Bust High-End Vehicle Theft Crew (patch.com) — Redondo Beach police SWAT officers joined neighboring South Bay agencies in a large multiagency raid that led to six arrests, nine recovered high-end stolen vehicles, and more than a dozen seized firearms. The crew is suspected in carjackings, pursuits, and other serious crimes across Los Angeles and Orange counties, with prosecutors now pursuing multiple felony charges.
