3 Arrests, 21 Citations Issued At DUI Checkpoint In Redwood City: Police
Police held the DUI checkpoints over the weekend at two different locations.
REDWOOD CITY, CA — Three people were arrested at DUI checkpoints in Redwood City over the weekend including some who tried to drive around it, police said.
The Redwood City Police Department held the checkpoints starting on Friday from 7:30-11 p.m. at El Camino Real at Carlos Street and from 11:30 p.m. to 01:30 a.m. at Woodside Road at Bay Road.
At the checkpoints, one driver was arrested for an outstanding DUI warrant and suspended driver license, one was arrested for resisting officers when they tried to drive through the checkpoint, and one was arrested for driving on the wrong side of highway at the DUI checkpoints.

Also, 17 drivers were issued citations for driving a car unlicensed and four received citations for various traffic violations, police said.
"DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of the DUI checkpoint is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the roads," police said.
