📰 News we're reading
• More than 6,000 pets find new homes across the Bay Area (nbcbayarea.com) — Redwood City's Nine Lives Foundation helped more than 80 pets find homes during its first-ever Clear The Shelters event, contributing to over 6,000 adoptions across the Bay Area. The August campaign, backed by NBC Bay Area and Telemundo 48, showed how local shelters and residents teamed up to give animals a fresh start.

• California kills bill regulating Flock cameras even as public rage grows (heysocal.com) — Redwood City police are among several California agencies that recently ended contracts with Flock license-plate cameras, even as state lawmakers again failed to pass new privacy rules for the technology. The stalled bill would have tightened limits on how police use and share plate data, while law enforcement groups argued it would weaken a key crime-fighting tool. The debate leaves local residents with fewer cameras but no stronger statewide safeguards.
