• County Approves Deep Public Safety Cuts; Rodriguez Casts Lone Dissenting Vote (riolindaonline.com) — Sacramento County has approved a $9 billion budget that restores the North County Gang Unit and several other public safety programs, but permanently eliminates the Sheriff’s Problem-Oriented Policing Team. For Rio Linda and Elverta, that means key gang suppression and homeless outreach services remain, yet the flexible POP unit that often helped families and vulnerable students in crisis is gone. Residents are urged to stay engaged as final budget adoption approaches in September.
