• Stockton teen drowns in Stanislaus River rafting off of Caswell State Park (mantecabulletin.com) — A recent drowning at Caswell Memorial State Park drew in Ripon’s fire district, whose only staffed engine was already busy on a vegetation fire, forcing Manteca Fire to handle the river rescue. The victim, a 17-year-old Stockton student, was later recovered, and officials are reminding residents that free life jacket loans are available from Manteca Fire Station 2 for safer river outings.
