Quake Rattles Sonoma County: USGS

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A magnitude 3.5 earthquake rattled an area near Santa Rosa this morning, the USGS reported.

The tremblor sent out a burst of seismic activity from the epicenter in Larkfield-Wikiup at 10:33 a.m.

The coordinates identify the epicenter at a home on St. Andrews Drive in an area surrounded by fields.

No damage has been reported. But the quake was felt in Rohnert Park, Cotati, and beyond, more than 20 miles away from the source.

"Adrenaline administered thank you very much," a woman posted on the Rohnert Park police Facebook page.

Residents from Guerneville to Petaluma also felt the quake, as did people in Sebastopol. "Near Pacific Market. Strong jolt, then done," a woman wrote.

Santa Rosa Police posted a reminder that September is National Emergency Preparedness Month and encouraged residents to visit the local site to make sure they are prepared.
