Community Celebrates Opening Of Affordable Homes, New Park In Sonoma County
An official described the new projects as "building blocks of a climate friendly, equity-centered community."
SANTA ROSA, CA — The Santa Rosa development known as Tierra de Rosas celebrated a double grand opening Friday with 75 affordable homes and a new public park.
Casa Roseland by MidPen Housing Corp. has one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments for people earning 30% to 60% of area median income, or about $34,620 to $98,880, depending on household size, the company said.
Across from the apartments is the one-acre park known as Plaza Permanente with a lawn, structures and picnic areas.

"The Plaza Permanente and Casa Roseland are more than housing and a park, they are building blocks of a climate friendly, equity-centered community that reflects the pride, diversity, and spirit of Roseland," Sonoma County Supervisor Chris Coursey said.
The housing was constructed to be within walking distance of schools, public transit, grocery stores, and a public library.

Residents have access to on-site amenities including a community room, learning center, teen room, bike storage, laundry facilities and a children's play area, according to MidPen Housing, the developer.
"After years of persistence, partnership, and dedication, the Roseland community's vision for Tierra de Rosas is coming to life," said Matthew O. Franklin, MidPen Housing President and chief executive officer. "We are grateful to the leaders and advocates who helped make this day possible."
MidPen, a nonprofit based in Foster City, said it serves 22,800 residents at 142 properties in 12 Northern California counties.
