The multi-day manhunt followed a crime spree across several counties and the killing of an Iowa Hill woman, with aircraft and drones used to locate the suspect before deputies exchanged gunfire.

Many of California's youngest students keep missing weeks of school, data show (laist.com) — Families in the Roseville City School District are being urged to closely track absences as local officials push down chronic absenteeism, especially in transitional kindergarten and kindergarten. The district has cut overall chronic absence rates dramatically with targeted letters, data-driven outreach, and clearer explanations of what young students learn each day. Educators stress that early, consistent attendance builds routines and skills that shape long‑term academic success.

New Alchemy Surf Resort Coming to Edge of Roseville, Rocklin, & Lincoln (rosevilletoday.com) — Roseville residents can expect a major new attraction nearby as Placer County has approved the Alchemy Surf Resort within the Placer One development on Roseville's western edge. Plans include a 5-acre surf lagoon, hotel, skate plaza, playgrounds, and extensive food and activity hubs, with Inland Surf Company aiming to break ground in spring 2027.
