Sacramento County supervisors just approved increases across garages, walkable and economy lots to help pay for the structure and future amenities like reservations and valet, which officials say will improve access and keep the airport competitive.

Sacramento mayor asks staff to study policies, impacts for data center proposals (sacbee.com) — Sacramento's mayor has asked city staff to spell out policies and safeguards before any large data center proposal lands at City Hall, focusing on energy, water, infrastructure, and neighborhood impacts. With a major firm eyeing Depot Park and state lawmakers weighing new reporting rules, the city wants clear zoning and environmental guidance ready for potential AI-driven projects.
   

3. Sacramento school board votes to oppose crematorium near elementary school (kcra.com) — Twin Rivers Unified trustees have formally opposed a new crematorium planned within 1,000 feet of Babcock Elementary School in Sacramento, citing health and emissions concerns for young students. The city has already permitted the project, but final approval now rests with the Sacramento Air Quality Management District, which is reviewing potential impacts before deciding whether operations can begin.
   

4. Sacramento news: Rabies alert, cheese recall and Rancho Cordova traffic changes (sacbee.com) — Sacramento-area residents should be aware of a national rabies alert and a cheese recall that affects some California stores, especially those with egg allergies. Rancho Cordova has also started traffic-calming work in the Sunridge Park neighborhood, adding speed lumps, bike lanes, and safer crossings on several streets through December, with more changes coming to White Rock Road in October.
   

5. Sacramento's El Grito festival returns to State Capitol (abc10.com) — El Grito returned to the State Capitol this week, filling downtown Sacramento with mariachi music, dancing, and food after last year's festival was scaled back over safety concerns. Organizers and longtime attendees say the full celebration brought renewed pride and a sense of community, with local bands and performers highlighting Mexican culture for families across the city.
