• Man critically injured in car-to-car shooting after Sacramento Sam's Club argument (abc10.com) — A man is in critical condition after a car-to-car shooting that followed an argument at the Sam's Club near Power Inn and Calvine roads in Sacramento. Deputies treated him on East Stockton Boulevard, but the shooter remains at large with no suspect description released, so neighbors should stay alert in that area.

• Goetz assumes command of South Pacific Division, Lloyd retires after 37 years of service (dredgewire.com) — A new commanding general has taken over the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' South Pacific Division in a ceremony held at the Sacramento Public Library, right in downtown Sacramento. Brig. Gen. Joseph "Clete" Goetz now oversees major water, construction, and emergency management projects across the West, while his predecessor, Brig. Gen. John Lloyd, retired after 37 years of service.

• Sacramento's top stories today: Chavez lawsuit, DA funding, seafood boil (sacbee.com) — Sacramento County supervisors have shifted nearly $3 million from future road maintenance to bolster staffing in the District Attorney's Office, including four misdemeanor prosecutors. Locals are also following new allegations against Cesar Chavez and looking ahead to Crab Dynasty, a Cajun-style seafood boil restaurant opening on Folsom Boulevard in the College/Glen neighborhood next March.
