SAN DIEGO, CA — Twenty-one more cats have arrived in San Diego County from Hawaii as the San Diego Humane Society expands its relief efforts following Hurricane Lowell.
The cats arrived Tuesday evening, bringing the total number transferred from Kauai to 40, the organization announced Wednesday. The latest arrivals were taken to the Humane Society's San Diego and El Cajon shelters, where veterinary teams examined them Wednesday morning.
The transfers are intended to free up space at Kauai Humane Society for pets injured or displaced by the hurricane.
