Escondido Man Arrested After 2 Found Dead Inside Ramona Home

He was arrested on suspicion of two counts of murder and booked into San Diego Central Jail, according to the sheriff's office.

RAMONA, CA — A man was arrested after deputies found two people dead inside a Ramona home Monday night, authorities said.

Deputies responded at 8:44 p.m. to a report of an assault with a firearm in the 600 block of 11th Street, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies detained a man outside the home before entering and finding a man and woman suffering from traumatic injuries. Both victims succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

The victims' identities were withheld pending family notification.

The man detained at the scene was identified as Ryan Proffitt, 33, of Escondido. He was arrested on suspicion of two counts of murder and booked into San Diego Central Jail, according to the sheriff's office.

The circumstances and motive remain under investigation. Authorities said the incident appears to be isolated and there is no known threat to the community.
