Man Wanted In Poway Attempted Murder Case: Sheriff's Office

POWAY, CA — Authorities asked for the public's help Thursday locating a man wanted in connection with an attempted murder after a woman was found critically injured at a Poway home earlier this month.

Deputies responded shortly before 3 a.m. Aug. 11 to a reported assault with a deadly weapon at a home in the 14100 block of Brighton Avenue, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office. Deputies found Azucena Gonzalez Martinez, 43, suffering from traumatic injuries.

Investigators said Jeronimo Cedillo, 38, forced his way into the home and attacked Gonzalez Martinez with a deadly weapon. Cedillo, who previously dated Gonzalez Martinez, fled before deputies arrived.

Gonzalez Martinez was taken to a hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

An active felony warrant has been issued for Cedillo on suspicion of attempted murder and other charges. Investigators said he is known to frequent the San Diego area, Los Angeles County and Mexico, and that he may have fled to Mexico.

Cedillo, also known as Geronimo Cedillo, was described as Hispanic, 5 feet, 7 inches tall and about 200 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
