San Diego Gas Prices Top $6 Again as Santee Drivers Feel the Climb (santeepulse.com) — San Diego County gas prices have climbed back above $6 a gallon, squeezing budgets for Santee drivers commuting on SR-52, SR-67, and I-8. With prices rising most days over the past few weeks, residents are urged to monitor local station rates and plan for higher fuel costs as global oil markets remain volatile.

'Baptism by orca' moment caught on video off San Diego (usatoday.com) — Whale watchers departing from San Diego recently got an unusually close encounter with Eastern Tropical Pacific orcas, which are only infrequent visitors to local waters. One passenger was playfully doused in the face by a friendly orca's exhale, a moment the tour operator jokingly called a "baptism by orca," highlighting rare, boat-friendly killer whales now cruising off Southern California.
   

4. Dog Missing for Nearly 3 Years Reunited with Family After Microchip Scan (10news.com) — A San Diego family was reunited with their dog Colby nearly three years after he went missing, thanks to a microchip scan at the Jewish Family Service Safe Sleeping site on Kincaid Road. Volunteers clean tombstones at Miramar National Cemetery one day after 9/11 anniversary (10news.com) — Volunteers from around San Diego gathered at Miramar National Cemetery to scrub headstones and read the names of fallen service members, including those lost on 9/11. Organizers say holding the event the day after the anniversary honors the unity Americans felt on September 12, while giving locals a hands-on way to show gratitude to veterans and their families.
