San Diego Man Sentenced 10 Years For PCP And Meth Sales, Illegal Gun Ownership

SAN DIEGO, CA — A San Diego man was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in federal prison for PCP and methamphetamine trafficking, as well as possessing firearms despite being prohibited from doing so due to a long criminal record.

Robert Stokes, 62, was arrested last August after police spotted him selling drugs to another person in Logan Heights, the U.S. Attorney's Office stated.

After stopping him in his Jeep, officers found 67 vials of PCP and baggies of methamphetamine inside the vehicle, a seizure that prompted a subsequent search of two RVs Stokes owned in Julian, in the northeastern part of the county. Inside the RVs, more than a kilogram each of PCP and methamphetamine was found, along with six loaded firearms, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office, which said he was prohibited from owning the firearms due to nine prior felony convictions.

Stokes was not in Julian during the RV search and was instead arrested in San Diego later that day, at which point more PCP and methamphetamine were found inside another vehicle he was driving.

Stokes pleaded guilty earlier this year.
