1 Hospitalized In Hazardous Materials Incident At SF Gold Club: Fire Officials

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — One person was hospitalized Friday during a hazardous materials incident at a golf club in San Francisco, fire officials said.

Muriatic acid and chlorine were found at the Presidio Golf & Concordia Golf Course, prompting a HazMat response, the San Francisco Fire Department said in a statement on social media at around 3:40 p.m.

One person was taken to a hospital. Fire officials did not say whether that person was exposed to the chemicals or what the extent of their injuries were.

"Our HazMat units and fire companies are working to assess the situation, identify any potential hazards, and ensure the safety of the public and our first responders," fire officials said.

"Residents and businesses in the immediate area were asked to avoid the area and follow directions from emergency personnel while hazmat crews addressed the situation.

"This is an active incident," officials said. "Please avoid the area and allow emergency crews room to operate."
