Man Charged With Murder In 2008 Cold Case Killing In San Francisco: DA

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A man was charged Thursday in connection with a fatal shooting in San Francisco that eluded officers for nearly two decades, according to authorities.

Las Vegas resident Derreyl Chase Goode, 40, was charged with murder stemming from a 2008 shooting that left one person dead. The charge includes an allegation that he used a firearm in the commission of the murder, according to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office.

Prosecutors said Goode shot and killed someone at 520 Fulton St. on April 27, 2008.

Witnesses told police that they saw Goode standing over the victim as their body hit the ground, prosecutors said. Police did not identify the victim.

A motive for the shooting remains unclear, authorities said.

Goode was arrested in Los Angeles following a "substantial investigation" by the San Francisco Police Department, authorities said.

Prosecutors said the remains are under investigation.
