Man Drives Himself To Hospital After Being Shot On Bay Bridge: CHP

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A man drove himself to the hospital after being shot while driving on the Bay Bridge over the weekend, authorities said.

The California Highway Patrol says the man was driving eastbound across the bridge around 4 a.m. when someone shot him once in the leg.

The driver told dispatch that he was driving himself to a local hospital for treatment, authorities said. The extent of the man's injuries was unclear.

All eastbound lanes on the bridge were closed for about an hour while authorities investigated the shooting, CHP said.

"Detectives are actively working to determine a motive and identify any suspect in this incident," CHP said. "Anyone with information that may be helpful is asked to call the CHP investigative tip line at 707-917-4491.
