The proposal would raise nearly $1 billion a year for 14 years to stabilize BART, Muni, Caltrain and other systems, while opponents warn higher sales taxes would hit everyday purchases and vulnerable residents hardest.
   

• SF Woman Dies After Falling From Freeway Overpass While Fleeing Police In San Bruno (sfist.com) — A police pursuit from South San Francisco ended tragically in San Bruno when a 34-year-old San Francisco woman fell from the Sneath Lane overpass onto Interstate 280 and later died at a trauma center. Officers had disabled her vehicle in San Bruno and attempted negotiations and less-lethal tactics before she climbed over the guardrail; multiple agencies are now investigating the circumstances.
   

• Padilla, Schiff, Durbin, Duckworth Introduce Legislation to Protect Regional National Archives Facilities from Closure (senate.gov) — San Bruno's National Archives facility is at risk of closure, and new federal legislation would require Congress to sign off before that happens or any other regional archive shuts down. Senators highlight how San Bruno's archives safeguard irreplaceable immigration, military, tribal, and Angel Island-era records vital to families, researchers, and communities across California and the Pacific.
