County officials say voting procedures remain unchanged as they review the federal request ahead of the November election.
SAN CARLOS, CA — San Mateo County election officials are reviewing a U.S. Department of Justice request concerning the eligibility of 328 registered voters, according to a county news release.
The county's Registration & Elections Division received the request Friday as part of a broader federal review involving approximately 20,000 California voters whose citizenship status federal authorities have questioned.
County officials said voting procedures remain unchanged and the DOJ's letter does not constitute a court order requiring changes to ballot processing.

“Our responsibility is to ensure that every eligible voter can exercise their right to vote while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of our elections,” Chief Elections Officer Mark Church said in the release.
The request comes amid ongoing federal litigation concerning ballots associated with voters whose citizenship status is being questioned.
Ahead of the Nov. 3 statewide general election, residents can continue returning mail ballots by mail or at official ballot drop boxes or Vote Centers. Voters can also cast ballots in person at any Vote Center throughout the county.
