• San Carlos nonprofit turns hard-to-recycle plastic into useful new products (cbsnews.com) — A San Carlos–based nonprofit, Peninsula Precious Plastics, is turning hard-to-recycle items like pill bottles and broken pickleballs into colorful combs, furniture, and other useful products while teaching residents to reduce and repurpose plastic. Founded by UCLA student and San Carlos resident Nick Schick with help from his parents, the group also supports international projects, including durable school desks for students in Malawi.
