Man Unloading Truck Fatally Struck By Tesla In San Leandro: Police

Police say the crash happened Tuesday morning in the 1700 block of Doolittle Drive.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Police say they're investigating a crash in San Leandro that left a bystander dead Tuesday morning.

The man was unloading a semi-truck around 11:30 a.m. in the 1700 block of Doolittle Drive as the drivers of a white Tesla Model 3 and a red Dodge Ram were traveling southbound, according to the San Leandro Police Department.

It's unclear exactly how, but the drivers collided, sending the Tesla careening into the rear end of the semi-truck and hitting the man, police said.

The man was taken by emergency personnel to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said.

The drivers of the Tesla and Ram were not injured in the crash and remained at the scene to speak with investigators, police said.

Impairment is not suspected to be a factor on behalf of either driver in the crash, police said.
