San Leandro Man Sexually Abused Teen He Met Playing Phone Games: Report

SAN LEANDRO, CA — A man who sexually abused a teen girl he met while playing online phone games was sentenced to three years in prison, according to an East Bay Times report.

Bienvenido Penaranda, 28, met a 15-year-old girl playing Mobile Legends, an online phone game, and later met her at a hotel, where he told her he could "get in trouble" for his actions, according to the report.

Penaranda was arrested last year after the girl reported the abuse to a high school official, according to the report.

The 28-year-old told police after his arrest that he thought the girl was 16, according to the report.

He pleaded no contest in May to sexual penetration with a foreign object and was ordered to stay away from the girl and register as a sex offender for 20 years, according to the report.
