San Leandro Police Find Hidden Bunker During Encampment Cleanup

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Officers unearthed a shocking discovery while helping at an encampment cleanup in San Leandro.

"Today, during an illegal encampment cleanup, we located a hidden underground bunker," The San Leandro Police Department said in a statement. "It was directly under a walking path, and the roof was camouflaged with dirt and debris."

Photos posted by the department show a shoddy wooden bunker. A chair, multiple organization boxes and a pick comb can be seen inside the shelter.

It's unclear who made the shelter. The San Leandro Police Department asked community members to "stay safe" and report any similar bunkers they may see around the city.
