Body Found On Highway Near San Mateo Bridge, Cause Of Death Under Investigation: CHP

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A pedestrian died early Tuesday on a highway near the San Mateo Bridge, though the circumstances surrounding the death remained under investigation, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officers were called around 6:10 a.m. after receiving reports of a body on westbound Highway 92 between Highway 101 and the Edgewater Isle/Mariner’s Island on-ramp near the bridge.
The person was not immediately identified.

CHP said the person may have been struck by a vehicle, but investigators had not determined exactly what happened.
A definitive cause of death will not be known until the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office conducts an initial examination, according to CHP.

Two far-right lanes were closed while officers investigated, and CHP issued a Sig Alert warning of significant traffic delays.
All lanes were reopened by about 7:30 a.m.
