Step into the rhythm and soul of Cuba with Kai Lyons’ A Night in Havana, an evening of traditional Cuban music, authentic Latin jazz, romantic boleros, and high-energy changüí from eastern Cuba.

Led by Kai Lyons, winner of the 2022 Chito Latamblet Award for Best Tresero at the National Changüí Festival of Guantánamo, Cuba, this special edition of A Night in Havana brings together a remarkable group of musicians with deep roots in Cuban musical traditions.

Featured on lead vocals is José Andrés “El Sinsonte” Rodríguez, a celebrated Cuban singer and composer from Guantánamo and a leading voice in the changüí tradition. Known for his powerful vocals, charismatic stage presence, and mastery of improvised singing, José Andrés brings the sound of eastern Cuba directly to the stage, drawing from a musical tradition passed down through generations. His career has been closely connected to Grupo Changüí de Guantánamo, one of Cuba’s most important ensembles dedicated to preserving and advancing this historic style.

Joining Kai and José Andrés are Einar “Tito” Leliebre on percussion and vocals and Ernesto Mazar Kindelán on bass. Together, the ensemble brings decades of experience across Afro-Cuban music, changüí, Latin jazz, and contemporary Cuban traditions.

Their musical journeys have connected them with celebrated artists and ensembles including John Santos, Omar Sosa, Arturo O’Farrill, La Charanga Habanera, and Los Van Van.

Expect an evening full of rhythm, warmth, and virtuosity — from soulful Cuban vocals and romantic boleros to infectious dance grooves and the exhilarating energy of changüí.
