Late runs in the sixth inning and strong defense, including key plays by right fielder Brayden Bianchi, helped the Knights stay within striking distance of the league leaders.
   

• Corvette fakes pumping gas mid-police chase, crashes into tree near Torrance (fox13seattle.com) — A high-speed police chase that started in Santa Ana on Thursday wound through several LA-area cities before ending in a crash near Torrance, where the Corvette driver was arrested. Officials say the suspect, initially wanted for speeding, sideswiped cars and hit a tree after briefly stopping at a gas station and pretending to pump fuel.
