• Lawmakers Fight Coastal Act Carveout That Appears Tailored To Gehry Project (patch.com) — Santa Monica residents are watching a renewed Sacramento proposal that could streamline Coastal Commission review for certain local projects, including one featuring a Frank Gehry museum, if the city's Local Coastal Program isn't finished by 2028. Local lawmakers Rick Chavez Zbur and Ben Allen strongly oppose the measure, arguing it undermines Santa Monica's agreement with the Coastal Commission and could let a major Ocean Avenue development bypass standard coastal scrutiny.
   

• Archer and AEG plan an eVTOL vertiport at L.A. Live for future (mrobusinesstoday.com) — Santa Monica is one of several planned vertiport sites in Archer Aviation's proposed Southern California air taxi network, which centers on a new hub at L.A. Live. The company envisions short eVTOL hops linking Santa Monica, LAX, Burbank, Long Beach and other airports, using its Midnight aircraft now undergoing FAA certification and recent high‑altitude and distance tests.
   

• Super El Niño could bring California's worst coastal winter (rollingout.com) — Santa Monica readers are being reminded how vulnerable our pier and coastline can be, as forecasters warn a developing Super El Niño could rival the 1997–98 storms that destroyed part of the Santa Monica Pier. Experts say record tides, higher sea levels, and stronger waves make coastal flooding in California this winter highly likely, even as rainfall totals remain uncertain.
