St. Paul & The Minneapolis Funk All Stars Bring the Iconic Minneapolis Sound to Montalvo Arts Center

A Prince Alumni Supergroup Celebrates the Music That Defined an Era

SARATOGA, CA — October 4, 2026 — Get ready for an electrifying evening of Minneapolis funk! St. Paul & The Minneapolis Funk All Stars bring the unmistakable Minneapolis Sound to Montalvo Arts Center’s Carriage House Theatre on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.

This powerhouse lineup features Elisa Fiorillo (New Power Generation), St. Paul Peterson (The Family, The Time), Dr. Fink (The Revolution), Jason Peterson DeLaire (Paisley Park House Band), Joey Finger (Batman soundtrack), and Oliver Leiber (Paula Abdul). Together, they deliver irresistible grooves, soulful vocals, and unforgettable hits from Prince, The Time, The Family, and more.

Bassist, vocalist, and bandleader St. Paul Peterson appeared in the landmark film Purple Rain as a teenage keyboard player with The Time, performing on favorites such as “Jungle Love” and “The Bird.” Prince later handpicked him to become the lead singer of The Family, the Paisley Park Records group that first recorded “Nothing Compares 2 U.”

In the tradition of Motown’s Funk Brothers, Peterson has assembled a dynamic group of musicians whose talents and musical histories connect audiences to the Minneapolis Sound. Their shared history and onstage chemistry make each performance both a musical reunion and a celebration of an enduring musical legacy.

“Every time we step on stage together, it feels like a reunion of old friends making music that still connects across generations. The Minneapolis Sound is more than just music, it’s a movement, and we’re honored to keep that spirit alive,” says St. Paul Peterson.

Blending funk, rock, soul, and synthesizer-driven rhythms, the Minneapolis Sound continues to inspire audiences across generations. St. Paul & The Minneapolis Funk All Stars carry that legacy forward with dance-floor anthems, soulful ballads, and explosive jams.
