• Man arrested for intentionally starting fires in Santa Cruz County (mercurynews.com) — Scotts Valley police arrested a man on Aug. 22 on suspicion of intentionally setting several small vegetation fires near Green Hills Road by Highway 17, after he allegedly admitted to starting them. Multiple local fire agencies quickly contained the blazes to about a quarter-acre with no injuries or structural damage, and investigators credit community tips and interagency teamwork with resolving the case.
